A Snippet of Truth: A Chosen & Peculiar People
“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God:”
1 Peter 2:9-10, KJV.
We are the royal children of the King of kings. We are “set apart for sacred offices.” We are a holy nation, a peculiar people. The children of a King or Queen can’t behave like any other person in the country. They have to be careful about what they say and do. A priest can’t do whatever he likes; he’s set apart from the rest of the people. He’s different.
That is what we are, as Christians. We shouldn’t act, dress, talk, drink, eat, read, watch the same as the rest of the world does. We are different. We represent our Kingly Father. Our duty is to show God’s praises and tell of how He brought us out of the darkness into His marvellous light. We are His people, and we must show that in everything we say and do.
“Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.” (1 Cor. 10:31, KJV).
